Haunted Orphanage Tour
During this chilling tour, learn the dark history and hauntings of the most infamous home in Gettysburg. Your guide will take you for a short walk around the original property, before entering the Soldier’s Orphans’ Homestead. This portion of the tour includes the original dining room, as well as other portions of the building.
You will then journey down the original wooden stairs to the same dingy, dark dungeon where a cruel headmistress forced children to stay when they “misbehaved”. You will hear about the appalling treatment of the young children in her charge, treatments that some say caused their spirits to linger throughout the building for over 150 years. If you dare, experience the darkness of what the children called “The Pit” or “The Dungeon”.
This tour is 90 minutes long and requires climbing some steps within the home and some light walking in the vicinity. Be sure to bring your camera, as you never know what you may capture!
